About Helen Matkin
My webpage details on http://www.hk4health.co.uk/mypage/helenmatkin.htm give you a good idea of how I came to HK, but I'm often asked about my background and training and what happened since the beginning in June 2006.
Background
My highest achievement by the time I left school was an 'A' level in Sociology and so I used to cringe at the Maureen Lipman adverts; I can't remember what she was advertising, just the joke about only getting an 'ology'. I have worked for most of my life in finance and as an adult I did GCSE Psychology - yes another 'ology' - and more recently in 2005 I gained a reputable qualification as an AAT Technician.
HK Training
Since beginning training in June 2006, I have attended 5 basic HK courses and 2 advanced courses (details of which are on the http://www.hk4health.co.uk website). In addition I have done courses in Anatomy & Physiology to NVQ Level 3, Nutrition, Counselling/Interpersonal Skills, Business Management and the Kinesiology Federation's foundation course: Touch for Health.
Other than that I have over 40 years' life experience. I am married with two teenagers and step-mum to a third. I have experienced both joy and pain in marriage and divorce, and had my own health worries which now thanks to HK I have overcome.
I will always continue with further Health Kinesiology training as not only do I believe there is always more to learn, but also because I enjoy the training so much. I also know that the more I know the better service I will provide to my clients.
